Glasgow Memorial Wall

Welcome

This virtual memorial wall is dedicated to our loved ones, friends and colleagues who have died, either recently or many years ago. Tragic events that happened in Glasgow are also remembered here.

The people depicted on this memorial were either born in Glasgow, or died in Glasgow.

You are most welcome to post a message on this memorial wall, and I have provided a form for that purpose at the bottom of the page.

In Memory Of A Loved One

We thought of you with love today
But that is nothing new
We thought about you yesterday
And days before that too

We think of you in silence
We often speak your name
Now all we have are memories
And your picture in a frame

Some may think you are forgotten
Though on earth you are no more
But in our memory you are with us
As you always were before

A million times we've thought of you
A million times we've cried
If loving could have saved you
You would have never died

You left us beautiful memories
Your love is still our guide
And though we cannot see you
You are always at our side

It broke our hearts to lose you
But you did not go alone
Part of us went with you
On the day God called you home

Forgive me Lord
I'll always weep
For the best friend I loved
But could not keep

Moving The Wall

Use your mouse and left-click anywhere on the wall below, keep the mouse button pressed and move the mouse up or down to move the wall. Click once to release the wall, then click and hold again to move it further.

You may see one or two icons next to a name - click on the globe icon and you will be able to see a webpage link. Click on the little clip icon, and you will see a text note.

The blue control panel on the bottom left allows you to center the wall and enlarge or reduce the wall.

The Form

Your Name: please enter your full name.

Your e-mail address: this will only be used to confirm I have placed your memorial on the wall.

You can add your memorial to the Events wall if the life was lost in one of the events (tragedy/disaster) mentioned. You can also add an event not already on the wall.

Which side of the wall - People or Events?

The person's name you want to place on the wall

Enter the person's birth year and year of death (example: 1922). If you don't know the year of birh, then just enter the year of death, or vice versa.

If it is the year of an event (tragedy/disaster), use either of the date fields.

About This Person: celebrate the person's life - tell us a story about how unique this person was and what a difference they made to your lives. Or just tell us something amusing or unusual. Use as many words as you want, but it must be your own work.

Or if you prefer just to say a few words like "In Loving Memory", then that will be fine.

If you are adding this memorial to the Events wall, please mention which event in the text.

Website: (optional) If you know of a website relevant to the person's life, then please share it with us.

PHOTOGRAPHS: (optional) if you own the copyright to a photo, or have permission to use the photo, you are welcome to send me an e-mail and send it as an attachment. I will resize it to 100 pixels wide, and the photo will be displayed for all to see.

For security reasons and to prevent spamming, I do not allow photos to be uploaded to my website, nor do I use mailto: to allow e-mails to be sent. Please paste in the e-mail address below to your e-mail client and attach your photo, and confirm in the text body the name of the person to be remembered.
