Behind those old Glasgow walls - there are dark secrets

Glasgow is a city with a myriad of architectural styles and has some beautiful old buildings, some of which are in state of disrepair and neglect, others restored to their former glory and with a new function far removed from their purpose when first built.

Not all buildings that will be described here will be beautiful or important enough to have the status Listed Building, but even the ordinary buildings have a special significance to Glasgow - a moment in time where some diabolical crime was committed or where a disaster happened that snuffed out innocent young lives.

For, etched into the walls of the buildings still standing, lies tales of horror and murder, of lust and terrible disaster. If you could touch these walls and they were able whisper their dark secrets - their stories would send a chill down your spine.

So come in and take a look. Read the stories. But don't stop there - the real purpose of this website to show you the more unusual aspects of Glasgow, its marvelous people, as well as the architecture. This is done through the various links. There are some wonderful websites that tell you all about Glasgow. The best links are here, and will be constantly added to.

Other links that may catch your interest are categories like Geneaology Links, Curious Links and Scottish Links. If you intended just to browse the internet for half an hour, then don't click any of the links. Otherwise you will be so engrossed with some of the most interesting websites, and you'll soon lose all track of time.

For more up-to-date information on Glasgow, check out Glasgow's Whispering Walls: NEWS.

THE 2014 FORUM is all about Glasgow's successful bid to host the 2014 Commonwealth Games, the preparations, and the regeneration of the East End of Glasgow as it builds a new sports complex and athletes village.

There are also free jigsaws that you can download and play on your computer and play without an Internet connection. All the photos are my own work, and you are welcome to distribute the jigsaws to your friends and family.

Glasgow's Whispering Walls is only here to serve as an introduction to a wonderful City.

But check back here from time to time - some new stories will be added, and some more pages to distract you.

Photographs reproduced on these web pages were taken by The Whisperer - except where he has had permission to publish photographs from another source.
